Sweden defeated Italy 3–2 at Strawberry Arena on 4 April 2025, with Fridolina Rolfö converting the decisive penalty in the fourth minute of second-half stoppage time. The Women’s Nations League match brought two changes of momentum before the home side secured the victory.

Italy struck almost immediately. Emma Severini finished a move involving Chiara Beccari in the opening minute, leaving Sweden to chase the game. The home side eventually equalised through captain Kosovare Asllani in the 56th minute. Filippa Angeldahl then put Sweden ahead with a free kick in the 75th.

Michela Cambiaghi restored parity for Italy in the 85th minute, setting up a tense finish. Rolfö’s late penalty settled the contest and completed Sweden’s comeback.

The result came in League A of the Nations League. Sweden’s next scheduled match was against Wales at Gamla Ullevi. Dino Bavehjani’s photographs from the Sweden–Italy match accompany this report from the national arena in Solna.
